Fertility Assessment – Male

Contrary to many myths, infertility is not limited to women. Issues with sperm quality and sperm production are a rising cause of infertility amongst couples. It is also likely that there is more than one cause of infertility. Thus, when a couple finds it difficult to conceive, both partners are advised to undergo fertility testing.
Semen Analysis
The quantity and quality of sperm in semen are crucial factors in determining fertility. A semen analysis can reveal the concentration of sperm in the semen, the shape of the sperm, average sperm motility, and any indicators of infection. In most cases, several semen analysis tests are required to obtain an accurate picture of sperm health.
Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation is a condition when a person ejaculates without control before or shortly after penetration during sexual intercourse. It is accompanied by a minimal amount of sexual stimulation and a person does not really wish to ejaculate that quickly. The result is deriving unsatisfactory amounts of pleasure from the sexual act for both of the partners.
The pressure to perform can get to a person and the added anxiety only adds to the woes of a patient. It is one of the commonest of the manifestations of sexual dysfunctions in males. Almost all men have fallen prey to this condition at one point in their sexual lives.
Erectile dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED), also known as impotence, is defined by difficulty getting and keeping an erection. It can be an embarrassing topic to bring up. It has been reported that more than half of males between the ages of 40 and 70 suffer from ED.
Varicocele
A varicocele is an enlargement of the veins that transport oxygen-depleted blood away from the testicle. A varicocele (VAR-ih-koe-seel) is an enlargement of the veins within the loose bag of skin that holds the testicles (scrotum). These veins transport oxygen-depleted blood from the testicles.
Hydrocele
A hydrocele (HI-droe-seel) is a swelling in the scrotum that occurs when fluid collects in the thin sheath surrounding a testicle. Hydrocele is common in newborns and usually disappears without treatment by age one. However, older boys and adult men can develop a hydrocele due to inflammation or injury within the scrotum.
